One does not become accepted into the National Honor Society with a high grade point average alone. Instead, one must bring in skills and talents that can help strengthen a community. I may currently have a 4.0 GPA, but so what? That is only a number. What is done behind the number is what matters. Behind the number, I have applied my hardest efforts towards my work, I have fought to organize my time efficiently, and I have used every gift and talent that God has given me. As a youth with much of my future ahead of me, I am continually searching for opportunities that reveal versatile career pathways. Acceptance into the National Honor Society would be another stream – nay, another sea – of opportunity for me.
Throughout my life I have been a hard worker. When given a due date for a project, I plan my time accordingly based on how I can produce the best quality of work that I can. My mind is a vast gorge of creativity; I always try to contribute my ideas (good or bad) that might help the situation. Being involved in musical and sport activities for much of my life has accustomed me to making quick, yet effective, decisions. My creativity continues to expand for each project I take on. I am extremely competitive, as is why I shall continue with a physically and mentally challenging livelihood. Nevertheless, I still know how to lose with dignity. Most importantly, I know that I am prone to failure. But when I fail, I take it as constructive criticism and turn it into a way of learning from my mistakes.
All of my qualities have given me the results of my academic achievements. During my freshman year, I was awarded academic excellences in four classes; Honors English 9, Honors English 10, Investigate into our Physical World, and Spanish I. This year, I am doing my best to live up to that perceived reputation of “excellence”. By continuing my academic feats, I can set an example for the rest of the school.
Enough of the seriousness now; I enjoy having FUN! Humor has been one of the greatest gifts that God has given me. Laughter can heal, it can help people move on, and it can resolve problems; it’s truly a wonderful thing. I try to think positive when life is going bad. I try to bring humor when things are dull. Of course, I know when to buckle down and be serious when needed (however dreadful it is!). Throughout the course of my sport experiences, I realized that the secret of winning was not only determined by the measurement of the team’s talent, but rather the relationship between the teammates. The best way to create a strong bond between your teammates is by finding something that makes everyone have fun and laugh. I passionately agree that laughter is the key to a good, successful life.
Patting yourself on the back is a hard thing to do now that we live in a modest world. However I try to swipe away all modest behavior that I withhold to give you a full appraisal of what I can provide to the National Honor Society. When there is an opportunity to something positive and helpful such as this society, I seize it. Acceptance into the National Honor Society truly is an honor. Granted with this opportunity, I would make the most of it.
